Dry Tortugas National Park protects the southwest tip of South Florida's coral reef tract. This represents the third-largest barrier reef system outside of Australia and Belize!

Dry Tortugas National Park offers some of the best snorkeling in North America. Whether you are a beginner or expert, you can enjoy a myriad of colorful tropical fish and living coral. Snorkeling is in only four to seven feet of water, straight off a brilliant white sand beach.

Snorkel safety:

  • Before snorkeling, make sure that all equipment fits properly
  • Use a snorkel floatation vest
  • There are no guards on duty, so swim at your own risk. Know your limits

  • Never snorkel alone - always use the “buddy system”
  • Beware of fast changing tropical weather
  • Beware of sunburn, wear a rash guard or reef safe sunscreen
